Enactment Date is the date that the requirement to be a registered participant of the Practising Certificate scheme to act in statutory mining positions in Queensland becomes law.

The Practicing Certificate scheme becomes mandatory on 10 June 2025.

This obligation will apply to all the following Competency and Notice holders, working in Queensland:

  • 1st Class Mine Manager (Coal)
  • 1st Class Mine Manager (Metalliferous)
  • 2nd Class Mine Manager (Coal)
  • Deputy
  • Open Cut Examiner
  • Ventilation Officers
  • Site Senior Executive (Coal)
  • Site Senior Executive (Metalliferous) – Surface, greater than 20 persons
  • Site Senior Executive (Metalliferous) – Underground

Registered participants will hold a single Practising Certificate for all competencies held.

Registration occurring at any time prior to the Enactment Date will not incur an initial Registration Fee.

Registered participants can start acquiring credit for learning hours (up to one years’ worth) as soon as their registration is confirmed.  The CPD hours accrued during the introductory phase (up to the yearly maximum) will be rolled over into their first 5-year Certificate period once the Enactment Date is reached. Those who have registered prior to 10 June 2025 but have not logged any hours will still be issued with a new official certificate.
